Clinical Supervision

Effective and ethical clinical supervision supports mutual growth, honesty, and openness
by fostering psychological safety and clear awareness of roles and responsibilities.

Ready… Set… Stop

Now, more than ever, the world needs qualified mental health professionals.

And it’s what you’ve always wanted to do. It’s your calling.

You’ve completed your education – yet there’s still one more hurdle.

While you’ve done your best in all your coursework, classroom and textbooks can take you only so far.

But you don’t have to navigate these waters alone.

Let me help.

You want to be the best practitioner you can be – to promote the best of health for every client while also maintaining your own professional and personal well-being.

Having an experienced mentor can be invaluable in setting appropriate boundaries, managing your time and practice, and many exigencies not covered in Chapter 6 of that seminal text or the second semester of the best class you ever had.

Why reinvent the wheel when you can benefit from an experienced guiding hand?

Ok. So, you need a clinical supervisor, but not just someone to check boxes. It would help if you had someone truly dedicated to you and your clients who take the process seriously and thrives in collaboration.

Why me?

I earned my license as a Clinical Social Worker in 2016 while leading a team of case managers, therapists, nurses, and psychiatrists.

Our work involved intensive case management for adult Medi-CAL beneficiaries diagnosed with severe and persistent mental illness and substance use disorders in East Oakland.

I discovered then that, besides enjoying the ground-level work of connecting with that population, assisting clinical staff in growing as practitioners – and as people – offered me a sense of tremendous fulfillment.

From there, I enjoyed two more opportunities to shape and manage a second team contracted with Kaiser and participate in an Emerging Leaders Program through the Telecare Corporate office in Alameda, California. My love of leadership and supervising other clinicians only grew, and I earned a promotion to Clinical Director of two ACT programs in downtown Oakland, working with a similar population, along with their families and with the legal system, to meet client needs more effectively.

What I Offer

In November of 2018, I completed the required courses to be a certified supervisor with the CA BBS. I began to study methods and approaches of more effectively guiding clinicians to grow naturally from their own insights and along their own development paths. Providing both group and one-on-one supervision to my clinicians was definitely one of my favorite parts of being a Clinical Director.

Admittedly, I enjoyed the challenge of working at micro, mezzo, and macro levels simultaneously in this position. But, over time, high-level county meetings and politics curtailed my availability to meet with and supervise individuals.

I drifted further and further away from the ground level as a leader and closer and closer to being a mid-level manager – unable to sense the pulse of the heart of my work. Because reconnecting with that heart was more important than continuing to climb the ladder through the corporate ranks, I decided to leave that position in July 2019.

Engaging in private psychotherapy practice since then, I’ve enjoyed the opportunity to focus much more time and energy on clinical supervision.

The Best of Both Worlds

Having a solid relationship with a clinical supervisor is like having a coach AND a teammate.

I’m here to remove any obstacles to your licensure. Demand is high, and the world needs the value you have to offer.

Let’s maximize that value together.

I am certified to supervise ASWs, AMFTs, and APCs pursuing hours for clinical licensure by the CA BBS.
